The Very First Post

After years of resisting it, I finally started a blog. I probably should have done this six or seven years ago. I could have. I was a lousy student so I had the time. No, the reason I refused was because this seems like the sort of project that is fun to start but gets old really quick. I didn’t want my blog to become one of the many lonely, abandoned outposts on the Web. C’mon, you know what I mean. How many times have you seen a blog that hasn’t been updated in months or even years? It’s so easy to picture this site having a flurry of activity for the first few weeks. Then seeing it trail off. Instead of posting every day, I start updating it maybe three or four times a week. Then it becomes a few times a month. Finally, I just disappear. How sad.
I can’t promise that won’t happen, but I feel pretty confident about this project. After all, I opposed starting a blog for years. I don’t think I would have given in to the urge if I wasn’t confident I would keep this going. It just seems like now more than ever I need a place to spout off about things that I see, and the Web is the perfect place for know-it-all loudmouths.
I’m not sure how much I’ll write this first week though. There’s a bunch of stuff to configure in WordPress, so I’ll need a few days to get used to this. The first thing I need to decide is, do I need to bother with “categories”? Crap.
